Sharing Thanksgiving

November 19, 2017

The event highlighted the holiday spirit by giving back through small acts of kindness directed towards our less fortunate neighbors in Sanford.

The event started with HIC children making greetings cards filled with well wishes for those who were receiving turkey baskets. The baskets were prepared at Masjid Al Hayy and filled with turkey, stuffing, sweet potato and other Thanksgiving staples.
Once the baskets were ready, the Sanford Police Department escorted HIC volunteers to various neighborhoods where they were distributed to families in need. A total of 22 turkey baskets were delivered to homes around the area, providing some relief just in time for Thanksgiving.

Our sincere thanks to Officer Gentry and Officer Nation of Sanford Police Department and the overwhelming number of volunteers who came out on a Sunday afternoon to be part of this noble cause. We look forward to making this an annual tradition.
