‘Eid-al-Fitr is approaching and Zakat-ul-Fitrah is payable on the eve of 'Idd or no later than the start of Salat-ul-‘Idd.
Zakat-ul-Fitrah is based on the prevailing staple food for people of town or city ("ahlal balad"). If we take the staple of people in Orlando is rice then Zakat-ul-Fitrah will be $12.00 per head based on the current price of Basmati Rice in Orlando.
HUSSEINI ISLAMIC CENTER will make arrangements for collection and disbursement of Zakat-ul-Fitrah on behalf of its members, as it normally does every year.
In order for HIC officials to organize the disbursement of Zakat-ul-Fitrah within the prescribed time, members are requested to deposit their amount of Zakat-ul-Fitrah (CASH ONLY, no Checks/Zelle/Venmo) in advance. The box to collect these dues will be available at the center from Saturday, March 14th, 2026 (eve of 25th, Mahe Ramadhan, 1447).
The payer of the fitrah will make the intention (Niyyah) as follows:
“I am appointing the person or persons responsible for Zakat-ul-Fitrah for Husseini Islamic Center to distribute this as Zakat-ul-Fitrah to the deserving needy on my behalf in accordance with shar’i rules, qurbatan ilallah.”
HIC will endeavor, on behalf of its members, to disburse Zakat-ul-Fitrah received on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.
